Welcome to Just The Tip, AskMen’s weekly series where we interview the greatest adult entertainers to get their sex tips and understand why they are so successful. Call it the tip of the iceberg, if you will.
This week, we had the pleasure of speaking to a living porn legend, Asa Akira.
How did you decide on your porn star name?
“Asa” is my real name, it means morning in Japanese. My parents wanted my life to be filled with morning sunshine, and it’s as weird as if someone named their kid “Morning” in the U.S. I got my last name from an anime movie, which is a genre I enjoyed a lot back when I smoked weed. Recently, I watched the film sober and couldn’t understand the premise. Oh, well, too late now!
Who is your favorite porn star?
There are way too many favorites to name, and it’s a constantly evolving list. When I work with the same person too much (especially guys,) they’re no longer my favorite. The exception to that rule is probably sex/sex_fantasies/jessica-drake-shares-her-favorite-sex–toys.html” target=”_self”>jessica drake — every time we have sex, it’s better; we have insane chemistry.
What’s your best porn memory/experience?
All of my firsts are my favorites. Whether it be the first time performing a sexual act, or the first time having sex with a new person, there’s nothing like that rush. It’s a high I’m constantly chasing, and undoubtedly will get me into trouble one of these days!
What sex lesson did you wish porn co-stars knew?
Always pee after sex. That, and you always have the sex/sex_education/what-is-sexual-consent.html” target=”_self”>right to say “No.” That one’s more for the younger women; I think had I gotten into the industry at 18,19 like some of these performers, I wouldn’t have had the courage to stand up for myself yet. Sometimes everybody on set wants you to do something one way, and you are the only one who wants to do it another — in those moments, I’d like every person to remember that they have the right to voice their opinion.
What porn move did you wish regular guys knew?
It’s not so much a move, but one thing I really love about porn guys is their no-limits attitude. Because they’re around women so much, in both sexual context and otherwise, they are scared of very little. They tend to care less when a woman is sex/sex_education/period-sex.html” target=”_self”>on her period, they’re quicker to try spontaneous anal, and they’re more likely to let me put a finger in their ass.
What is the most important foreplay move for you?
I’m old fashioned — I like a nice passionate kiss before getting pounded in the ass.
What’s your favorite sex toy?
Probably mostly due to laziness, I’m more of a fingers-kind of masturbator for the most part. I just started using a toy called Fin from Dame Products, and I like it a lot — it’s a vibrator that fits right between your fingers, becoming something like an extension of your hand.

What’s on your bucket list?
So many things. I want to write a fiction novel. I want to travel around the world for an entire year. I want to get DP’d by identical twins.
Finally, anything to promote?
Wicked.com is the only place you can see my new hardcore stuff.
